Imbolc: A Message from the Goddess Brighid
February 1st is celebrated in Ireland as St Brigid’s day, it is also known as Imbolc, an ancient pagan holiday closely associated with the Goddess Brighid. In ancient days it was celebrated on February 1st through sundown on February 2nd. Imbolc means “ in the belly”, as this is the time when lambs are born and their mothers receive their milk. It is the cross quarter point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. It is a celebration of the beginning, or promise of spring.
The Celtic Goddess Brighid has always been close to my heart, after Mother Mary, she was the first aspect of The Divine Mother that spoke to me and began to teach through me as I opened up to the many aspects of the Divine Mother.. I came to know her as powerful, a warrior energy who ignited the power to overcome, transform, and to “forge “ a new path. She works within the womb, the cauldron of fire and rebirth, and has brought me to the “well” to enter the watery depths and to heal. She taught me how to connect with the earth mother Gaia, bringing me into the earth mother’s tunnels and deep within her heart, She has taught me the importance of the cycles of time, and the power to create .
She refers to herself sometimes as “The Brigantine One”, perhaps because her origins are from the land of Brigantia in ancient Britain, where she was worshiped as the Goddess Brigantia. She speaks about the mounds and passageways in the message I received from her this morning. I believe she is referring to the passage tombs found in many areas of the celtic lands, such as the Tomb of the Hostage on the Hill of Tara in Ireland . On Imbolc the rising sun shines down the passageway of this tomb.
This is who spoke to me early this morning, the Goddess Brighid, she pronounces it Brigeed and she has asked me to share this message with each of you in celebration of Imbolc, as it is the promise of a new day.
Goddess Brighid:
“This day I set a new course to aid the masses, a new beginning so to speak , as the rising of the sun occurs.
It is Imbolc and so now the promise of a new day, new light.
The land of Brigantine is upon each of you, the land where the celtic nations dwell.
I am present as the Celtic Goddess Brighid, I shine a light to the new, to a new path that will set a course so that each may rise up and come to know of their own inner truth.
This is the light that I shine, it is a promise of a new day.
It is a halfway point between the old and the new and so now we set the course, as there is promise here on this day, a hope that rises up from the ashes and says “yes”, the new day has begun.
In the coming months there will be much renewal, much remembering of truths, a new beginning.
In this moment in time, you must gather yourselves together and know of your own inner strength as the path is en-lightened.
See it now, it is a promise.
You must forge a new path now, one that will bring you forward. A seed has been planted and awaits the re-birth, allow now the light to shine upon it.
You are each called forth upon this new path as the light shines.
The ancient druids knew of this day and the promise that it brings, one of renewal, where a new countenance is drawn forth.
It is a day of remembrance as well, as the new day dawns so too does the memory of the ancients stir.
This is your inheritance, your divine right as a child of the stars.
The mounds stir now, portals of time and space that awaken. Time knows no passage as it is present in this moment, and You now awaken as the Ancient Ones.
The battle cry has been heard, the inner mounds of the passageways to your truth as a Being of Light stir.
Step forward now, it is a new day, and you are remembered for your greatness.
Forge now the new path and allow the lamplight to shine upon it, promises given, promises kept, and so now you rise.
